Timbuk2 Ballistic Commute M Review

Timbuk2 Ballistic Commute Medium - Laptop Messenger Bag

So the first day of a new school year is almost upon us and you have your shiny new Macbook Pro or Dell laptop, stylin’ new clothes, and every other accessory you need for classes, except for one thing - your new computer or messenger bag.

Never fear, Timbuk2 is here.

If I couldn’t have my trustworthy American Tourister laptop bag that has been through thick and thin with me, the Timbuk2 Ballistic Commute M is the bag I would choose to replace it.

When looking for a new or replacement messenger bag in order to carry books, mp3 players, electronics, laptops, and more every single day, the most important thing that I look for is toughness. Colors and style are great, but that doesn’t matter to me if the bag falls apart after just a few months.

The thing that really impressed me about the Timbuk2 Ballistic Commute is that it is made from high grade 1860 Denier ballistic grade nylon fabric and is tough enough to face day after day usage as a primary carry-all bag.

While it starts out a little on the stiff side right out of the box, that is just great sign of its future durability and the stiffness relaxes a bit within a week or so of use.

The second most important factor is that the bag will carry everything that is needed on a daily basis. When looking for a new laptop messenger bag, it is very important to make sure that the laptop that you own or are looking to buy will actually fit inside the bag.

The laptop section of this bag is separate from the main pocket, which helps to protect the laptop from minor bumps and bangs again table tops and door frames which is another plus.

The medium size of this shoulder bag will fit just about any 15 inch or smaller laptop. A 15 inch Mac book Pro laptop fit inside the laptop compartment with no problem at all.

The main section of this laptop bag is surprisingly large considering it is still technically a “medium” messenger bag. Along with the laptop computer, the main storage pocket will allow you to fit multiple books, folders and/or notepads, MP3 player, phone and any other normal electronic accessories that are necessary for class or work.

In the end, I would have to give this bag an enthusiastic “buy” rating.

Not only for its toughness factor, but also because in the end, it does everything a top of the line laptop bag should. It carries a full days worth of books, folders, and snacks; has enough extra room to fit all the extra laptop accessories; and looks darn good while doing it all.
